I’ve posted about the need for health care to spread out from hospitals and into every corner of our communities. So when I was contacted by Ester from the Alzeimer’s Society asking to give me training to become more sensitive to the needs of people with dementia I didn’t just say ‘yes’, I got my whole campaign team along too.

As we talk to thousands of people every month it’s common for us to meet people who either have dementia or are full time carers, so I’m pleased that we are now collectively more understanding of the needs of people with dementia and aware of how to act in a more supportive way.

It’s a small step, but if many of us act in simple ways like this then our communities can become kinder places for those coping with life’s challenges.

All the best from me and the team, all of whom are now proudly ‘Dementia Friends’
