This morning I got up early and braved the chilly weather to spend time with the post men and women who are slaving away at this time of year to get all the Christmas parcels to you in time.

Hove sorting office was a frenzy of activity, but it was brilliantly organised. Not only did I get to see Andy, the postman who delivers to my office, and see how he sorts the mail before heading out on his round, but I spoke to loads of others too.

I caught up with the four rascals you see in the photo. They’d finished sorting and were grabbing some breakfast before heading out to deliver our mail. Get this though, between the four guys in this photo there is 85 years of service to the Post Office and our community. Isn’t that amazing?

If you work in the front-line of public service, especially out in the cold, thank you from the bottom of my heart. And on this I know I speak for the whole community. All the best, Peter
