That’s it…polls have closed. I’ve been all over the southeast in this campaign, from Milton Keynes to Dover and the Isle of Wight and, or course, the best place on the south coast…Hove and Portslade!
In every stop on my tour I’ve met so many passionate and dedicated activists, campaigners, and ordinary residents who’ve come out to spread a positive messages and explain why we care so much about the EU and all the other important relationships our country has. To everyone who gave time, even if it’s a hour or two, thank you from the bottom of my heart. My office was simply buzzing with activity today, it made me so happy!
Campaigns are nothing without people like you – you give campaigns their character, their energy, and their soul. I have just arrived in Southampton where the count for the South of England will take place. Its going to be a long, long night and my heart is already thumping away with the tension.
There’ll be a lot more to say in the days ahead. Lessons to be learned and how we move forward a a country and heal the terrible wounds of this campaign. But for now I simply want to say one thing…thank you from the bottom of my heart for caring so much about this campaign. Yours, Peter
