After the Great Storm of 1987 I remember waking up for school and finding my curtains plastered to the ceiling and the window’s sucked clean out of the bedroom wall (I’m a heavy sleeper!).

I woke today to see the lightning show going on outside and a pile of hail in my lounge! That’ll teach me to leave my windows open. I also owe a pint to the volunteers who came to the office at the crack of dawn equipped with wellies to clean up the water that had leaked.

I got off lightly, but judging by the piles of carpet outside people’s homes and offices today others weren’t so lucky. Big thanks to staff working for the council and emergency services who coped brilliantly with the sudden deluge.

Did you see any extraordinary sights from your window last night?

All the best, Peter
