Bernie Jordan, the Hove resident and war veteran who stole our nation’s heart in June last year when he took off for Normandy alone so he could attend the D-Day commemorations, has died aged 90.
That his trip turned out to be his last adventure makes it all the more poignant. He was a remarkable man who gave a lifetime of public service, both as a serviceman who fought for our nation and a local politician who strove for our city.
We often say, ‘if only there were more like him’, but I prefer to think that people like Bernie showed us just what can be achieved in one life and use it as inspiration for our’s. All the best, Peter
