Labour Councillor Bella Sankey, Leader of Brighton & Hove City Council did the opening for the new landmark. She said “This is a once in a generation opportunity to deliver something that is truly exciting for our community, something that met a local need.”
“This is something that was relevant to people of all ages, something which could encourage people to be more active and to improve their health and well-being, something which made our seafront more accessible and more welcoming, and something which transformed an underused and neglected space into one of the most modern and popular facilities in the whole city.
“We’ve achieved this and more and we’re not done yet.”
The project is a testament to the hard work of the Brighton and Hove city councillors, and is a brilliant investment in our area for the local community.
