The Labour government have unveiled a new plan to make the UK a global leader in AI.

The initiative will be spearheaded by Peter Kyle, Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology and MP for Hove and Portslade. The plan accepts 50 recommendations brought forward by British entrepreneur Matt Clifford, commissioned by Peter Kyle.

Peter has said: “AI has the potential to change all of our lives but for too long we have been curious and often cautious bystanders to the change unfolding around us.

The Government will create a series of AI “growth zones”, starting in Culham, Oxfordshire, where approval planning for data centres will be accelerated and access to the energy grid will be improved.

The plan also includes a pledge to build a new supercomputer and increase the UK’s compute capacity 20-fold by 2030.
