Sir Kier Starmer has named Peter Kyle as Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology.
Peter was previously Shadow Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology.
His new position will see him head Britian’s mission to become an AI world-leader. His department is responsible for ‘accelerating innovation, investment and productivity through world-class science’.
Peter will be responsible for the Government’s collaboration with some of the most powerful tech companies, focusing on the innovation and safe development of disruptive tech and AI.
He told the BBC after election “Unlocking the benefits of artificial intelligence is personal”. His mother died of lung cancer, which was detected too late, but new AI medical technologies being developed could have caught it earlier on.
This is a testament to the hard work the newly re-elected MP has put into the Hove and Portslade constituency, turning it into a Labour Party strong-hold with four consecutive victories.
