In this job there’s nothing I love more than being out and about meeting people and celebrating the achievements of individuals and communities. Being prevented from doing this by the pandemic has been really difficult for me.

So it was a bumper moment for me to think the people who made the Wish Park mural happen.

The mural and new communal garden didn’t happen by accident, it came to life because amazing people put so much hard work into it, from our park gardener to artists and the power company who owned the building and of course the residents who brought everyone together on this wonderful mission.

The mural celebrates the park, its people and rather eccentric history. It also memorialises the moment we’re living through with a standout ‘thanks’ to our frontline health workers and NHS.

Just being with a few people from our community, even masked and socially distanced, was so lovely and will keep me going for days!
