It’s polling day!
I know this is a difficult election in horrible weather, but please bear one thing in mind: not voting, for whatever reason, doesn’t mean things won’t change, it just means you won’t have a say in what direction it goes.
Voting gives power to the person who gives voice to our community on the things that really matter most. Not voting hands power to the wrong people, the populists, who create divisions and exploit vulnerable communities for their own gain.
If you’re a young person think about this: if people your age had voted in the same numbers as people over 65, Brexit wouldn’t have happened.
Voting makes a difference, whoever it’s for.
Thank you for being so kind to me and every volunteer whose been out in every street here since this election was called. Whatever the outcome of today’s election, I’ve never felt so proud to be a part of our amazing community.
