Peter has been talking to small business owners in Hove and Portslade to find out what they need to help grow, employ more people and help boost the area’s economic strength. As someone who set-up his own small business in Brighton he understands the challenges faced by entrepreneurs.

He believes that there is a fantastic range of small businesses and entrepreneurs who are key to the success of our City. These businesses bring the majority of jobs and wealth to Hove and Portslade and Peter wants to ensure that they are supported, nurtured and helped to enjoy more and more success. The better they do the better we all do.

We also live in an innovative City which should be celebrated. “Many more new businesses are born in Brighton & Hove than the South East or National level per 10,000 people,” said Peter. “I want to fight hard to help these businesses thrive and prosper because I’m told time and time again that trading conditions are hard and the barriers to success -; such as high business rates -; are crippling this growth and enterprise.
