A few days ago I emailed volunteers to say we were planning on some community activities today and I was staggered to arrive in the office this morning to find over 30 people buzzing with energy who were as keen as I was to get out and about. People have a lot to say about the election and issues in their communities so it was a pleasure to listen, learn, and respond.
We had two street stalls going in different parts of the constituency and delivered 1,500 leaflets about a community issue I’ve been contacted about by residents in the Stoneham area. Then we all headed over to the St Ann’s Well Festival for some food and to listen to the choirs and music.
My aim is to represent in the same way I campaigned – so getting out and about isn’t just an election-time activity for me, it’s part of the job description.
Having said that, I’m having tomorrow off and will be hoping, like many of you, for some decent weather to make it even more special! All the best, Peter
