The minister acknowledged the popularity of the trial that was conducted, but could not give me a date when it would be rolled out in Brighton and Hove or other Southern stations.

I put to her that there was a clear economic case because our economy in Brighton and Hove is dominated by micro-businesses and self employed people. Therefore flexible season tickets is essential to unlocking further productivity in our city’s economy. The minister was very taken with this argument and asked me for more details.

So I’m collecting examples and case studies from you for how these tickets will positively contribute to your job, business, or economic activity. I’ll turn this into a report and present it to government. This will be something tangible that I can then put pressure on the minister, the department, and government as a whole.

I also expressed in no uncertain terms the anger, frustration, and raw emotion that you felt in the run-up to Christmas. You have had enough of this. I shared some examples, stories, and comments from this page and believe me it made uncomfortable listening for the minister. I’m sorry that things won’t change overnight, but I am making your voice heard as loudly as I possible can.
