Bringing Ed To Listen To Our Community

This morning I brought Ed Miliband to Hove and Portslade to listen to residents, explain Labour policies, and discuss the big issues affecting our community, city, and country.

I explained how giving people the best start in life - in education, housing, and jobs - is at the heart of my campaign. I also had the opportunity to explain my own motivation for making the leap from the voluntary sector and local business into politics.

So many people turned up that all the seats were taken and we tried to get as many other people in to use any standing space. I'm so sorry if you tried to take part but couldn't get in. The Old Market provided a fantastic space for the meeting and the staff were so helpful.

We invited residents from every political background so the questions and ensuing discussions were really lively, covering everything from the economy and health to housing and tenant rights.

Elections should be about open-spirited discussions like these. I've participated in two 'hustings' and my team has had thousands of conversations in our local communities in the last month alone. And of course I love discussing issues with you here on Facebook too. I hope this demonstrates my enthusiasm for being open and accessible, a spirit I will continue should I become your member of parliament in May. All the best, Peter
